Clan Stewart Farm, is a 160+ acre 7th generation, Bicentennial family farm located in central Pennsylvania. Clan Stewart Farm is one of Pennsylvania’s few remaining Bicentennial farms. Our land, which has been farmed by our family since 1793, is very precious to us. We believe that producing fresh, nutritious, and healthy food and selling it locally is the best way to ensure a bountiful local food supply, protect the environment, and keep farmers on the land.

In the late 1700’s, Scotch-Irish immigrant Robert Stewart came to Pennsylvania from Northern Ireland, He purchased 300 acres near Manor Hill from the Penn family in 1793. He married Margaret Miller, also from Northern Ireland, and they became the parents of five children, sons James, John, William, David & daughter Margaret.

Sons James and John eventually took over the land, which was separated now into two farms, where they raised wheat and oats, sheep, cattle and hogs. After the Civil War most of the immigrants’ grandchildren moved West, but James’s son, John Miller Stewart (3rd generation) continued to farm.

His only surviving son Harry T Stewart (4th generation) took over next and kept the farm alive during the hard times of the Great Depression. Harry’s only child, George T Stewart (5th generation) farmed for over 50 years before passing away in 1992.

The 6th generation­ Jim, Linda, Bob, and Kathy--continue to keep the farms alive. Linda and her husband Terry Moist, together with their four grown children (7th generation)--Erik, Jessica, Benjamin & Christopher--farm the upper farm, called Clan Stewart Farm.
